Biden Administration Halts Export Licenses to Huawei

Worldcraft Logistics collected new reports say that after limiting Huawei's access to the US market for a while, the administration of former US Vice President Joe Biden has officially stopped giving licenses for US companies to export most goods to Huawei. In recent years, the United States has imposed export restrictions on Huawei products related to 5G and other technology, as reported by Reuters; nonetheless, the United States Department of Commerce still issues licenses to certain businesses.

However, US officials have now established a new law that prohibits exporting to Huawei, according to a Commerce Department source familiar with licensing issues. This policy covers 4G, Wi-Fi 6 and 7, artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, the cloud, and other sub-5G technologies. Huawei is also unable to accept deliveries. This restriction stops Huawei from accepting packages containing Huawei goods. Another source claims that the Biden administration's harder stance on Huawei over the previous year influenced this shift. Licenses for 4G chips that couldn't be utilized for 5G were being denied, according to the source. The government continued to grant 4G network licenses while the Trump administration ended and the Biden administration started.

This action by the US has had a significant impact on Huawei, specifically: in December, Huawei reported total revenue of about $91.53 billion, a slight decrease compared to 2021, but after this sanction was issued, their sales fell by almost a third.
